Eden’s major was Computer Science

What was your first professional job after you graduated? Was it related to your major? If not, how did you discover this job?

After graduating, my first professional role was in Business Development, where I focused primarily on sales and database management. While some aspects of the job related to my major, I took the position mainly to gain professional experience while continuing to explore opportunities in the computer science field. After a couple of months, the company I had interned with during college reached out about a full-time position similar to my previous internship role. I accepted the offer and have been with them since July 2025. This role aligns much more closely with my major and career goals, and I truly enjoy the work I’m doing with them.

What do you do in your current job?

In my current role, I focus on building automation tools that collect and process web data at scale. I design and maintain templates and workflows for an AI driven regional project, ensuring data is accurately captured and structured for our clients. I also work extensively with databases to manage ongoing data connections across the company.

What advice about working in your career field do you have for students?

One piece of advice I’d strongly emphasize is to be intentional about where you intern. Instead of just chasing a big-name company for your resume, look for a place where people make you feel welcome, invest in your growth, and encourage you to share your ideas. My internship helped me build confidence in my coding skills and gain more skills beyond the ones I was getting in my regular coursework.
